After a long week of international travel one always feels grateful to return home. At least I do. I think it is something we don’t do often enough; travel to foreign places. While we can get new ideas and prospectives, we also gain an appreciation of what we have. In rare cases we find that we need to change what we have too. All good things toward a happy, health mind and home.
Have you ever had the shock of accepting something you were against before? It doesn’t necessary have to be something you were dead set against but something you maybe didn’t approve of or agree with. Then something changes in you and then that thing isn’t so bad. It has recently happened to me. It wasn’t a big issue or something life shattering but I feel off balanced. Like that last step I expected but it wasn’t there or when you see the 3D picture in the chaos of imagines. I had a friend tell me that knowledge is a diamond. Each facet holds wonders and you must turn the diamond to get all the information.
Embrace the new information. The problem happens when you shun or try to pretend the knowledge didn’t change you. This change doesn’t have to deal with facts. It could be an emotional thing. Like the moment when you realized that two people you know are closer then you thought. Or a character was the good guy all along.
I am not sure what to do with this new emotion and feeling. I am going to have to rethink everything! It will take time getting used to. But until then I will continue to explore these things and not shy away from change.
In case you have no idea what I am talking about here is a picture of Skittle Chicks. (These are chicks that are dyed in the shell and come out colored. Later they molt and look like normal chickens.)
Keep an open mind. It is hard to do no matter how strong you are. You plan and plan for things to work out and when things are slow to bloom it is easy to get frustrated or discouraged. So keep an open mind and stay strong!
I caught a blip on the late night news last night. The speaker stated, something to the effect of, You have the freedom of speech but it does come with consequences. That quote stuck with me as being very true. We do have the right to speak about whatever we want. However, many people do not think about their words. In the last few years, words of hate have been spoken with abandon. Hate and fear are great motivators but have huge impact on the people they are directed towards. It is to us to stop speaking words as if they don’t have consequences. We need to lead the revolution to stop hate from spreading. There is never a reason to use words in hate and hurtful intent. Focus on what comes out of your mouth this week and see if you can change this downward spiral in our world.
Many people look at me sideways because I am so willing to test the unknown. I know that it is human nature to ridicule things that are strange or beyond our capabilities. However, we need to make an effort to combat this urge. I tell people it isn’t that I’m not afraid it is that I don’t let the fear stop me. I believe if more people thought that way great changes would happen in the world. People who were letting the fear keeping them from asking for a raise, moving away, standing up to a bully, etc. would be able to change their path into a more desired direction. Don’t live through other people live your own life to the fullest. Scared but not stopped.
I saw a quote from the Dalai Lama that said, “It is unrealistic to think that the future of humanity can be achieved only on the basis of prayer, what we need is to take action.” Whether the internet quoted it correctly is not the point. What the quote actually states is a very true statement. You can hope and pray for that dream (fill in the blank) but unless you attempt to attain it you will never have that (blank). While prayer is very strengthen in your faith and your personal convictions you also have to act. It is also a good idea not to act blindly. Do the research, get insight, ask for advice before you jump at least look how deep the pool is. If we all worked towards our goals I believe the world would be a better place. What would be something you could/would work towards?
